Daniel's early years in rural Texas helped shape his strong work ethic and steady character. At the age of 19, he began his lifelong career at Martin Hardware Store, where he worked faithfully for 48 years, from 1959 until his retirement at 72 in 2007. His dedication and dependability were admired by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alonzo Hernandez; his mother, Beatrice P. Hernandez; and his siblings, David, Johnny, and Elias.
Daniel is survived by his devoted wife, Maria B. Hernandez, who stood lovingly by his side for 42 years. He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory:
Sons: Danny; Rodney (Stacey); Jimmy
Daughters: Julie (Ismael); Pamela (Mark); Jessica (Luis)
Grandchildren: Randi, Amanda, Steven, Michael, Suzette, Gabby, Luis Jr., and Sophia. Great-grandchildren: Ruby and Rowan
Many beloved brothers and sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
Daniel found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved vegetable gardening, raising chickens, and watching his favorite Houston sports teams, including the Astros and the Houston Texans. He also enjoyed watching boxing and especially cherished watching classic western movies. One of his greatest joys was sharing stories of the "good old days" with family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren.
Daniel will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
