

Daniel Howard Wendland, 73, went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2010. He was born April 11, 1936, in Loebau, Texas to Erich and Frieda Wendland. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clarence Wendland, brother-in-law Murphy Biehle and parents-in-law Walter and Esther Biehle. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Darlene Biehle Wendland. He is also survived by his three daughters; Dania and Clinton Mahoney of Willow Springs, Illinois and their children Keeley, Kiley and James Daniel; Daneen and Alex Balido of San Antonio, Texas and their son Alexander Daniel; and Danielle and Matthew Hicks of Caldwell, Texas and their daughters Otylia and Adeline and one granddaughter to be born in May. Survivors also include Dan’s brother Raymond and wife Betty Wendland, sister-in-law Margie Wendland, brother and sister-in-law Oliver and Marilyn Biehle and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dan graduated from Texas A&M University in 1960 after serving time in the Army. He served as the Vice President of CleCon Inc. and was the owner of Houston Darco Landscapes, Inc. Dan also loved cattle ranching and, of course, the Texas A&M Aggies.
Dan will most be remembered for his devotion to his faith, his love of his family, his kind heart and his giving spirit. He was a remarkable husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Known fondly by his grandchildren as “Gramps,” he had an amazingly loving heart.
Pallbearers will be Billy Wendland, David Wendland, Mark Wendland, Tim Wendland,
Gregory Biehle, Gavin Biehle, Garrett Biehle, Gerald Biehle, Hersh Miles, Jeff Rothenberger, Vic Kashyaps, Clinton Mahoney, Alex Balido and Matthew Hicks.
