Darrel Franklin “Frank” Ratlief, 97, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27 at his home. Born on Dec 1, 1928 in Cunningham, KS to Clyde and Iris Ratlief.

Survived by his wife of 38 years, Alice Marie Ratlief, his children Linda (Gary), Darrel (Kathy), Dennis (Carol), Jennifer (Dale), Melody (George), Martha as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family.

He was a lifelong and well respected oil and gas man. He started his career when he was recruited by his uncle to work at LeRoi engine company in ‘47. He joined Lee C Moore in ‘50 where he started out as a warehouse manager and worked his way up to Sales and then District Manager for US and Canada. He was recruited by the President and the VP of DRECO and joined in ‘79 as the chief salesman of masts and substructures. DRECO was later acquired by National Oilwell (later National Oilwell Varco - NOV) in ‘97. He held multiple positions including VP of sales and VP of engineering. He officially retired from NOV but then was recruited back to consult for another 10 years.

The family will hold a funeral service on Monday, June 1, at 1pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery in Houston, TX, where he will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to SPCA.
