

David E. Allan, 76, of Houston, died suddenly on Wednesday, the 16th of December 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born on the 6th of August 1939, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Edgar and Jane Bridgewater Allan. David received a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from Tulsa University in 1962, his Master of Science degree from Tulsa University in 1964, and his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Louisiana State University in 1970. He was a member of Phi Lambda Upsilon, Phi Kappa Phi, and Society of Sigma Xi. David joined Exxon Corporation in 1965. He had many assignments in research engineering and management during his thirty-five year career with the company. As a hobby David was passionate about motorcycles.
David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Mary Margaret Allan; his two children, Laura Richard and Leslie Matus; his grandsons, Benjamin Richard, Peter Richard, Michael Matus; and his granddaughter, Brooke Matus.
The memorial service celebrating David’s life is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 23rd of December, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where The Rev. RJ Heijmen, Senior Associate Rector at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the grand foyer.
