David joined the US Air Force in June 1968, serving his 4 year enlistment with Strategic Air Command, Grand Forks Air Force Base, Grand Forks, North Dakota attaining the Rank of E5 Staff Sgt, missile systems electrical specialist.
During this time he met Mrs. Merri Kappes who became his wife and and partner for life celebrating 50 years of marriage in Christ in May 2023.
David went to work for Mobil Pipeline in 1972 as an electrical technician and pipeliner, retiring in May 2006 after 34 years of service in Freer, TX, Yanbu Saudi Arabia, and Beaumont, TX.
Church was very important to David and his family. He served as an adult Sunday School teacher, church treasurer, deacon and led music during the worship service for several years.
After retiring he enjoyed researching the stock market and creating financial worksheets. He often said if not an electrician he would have become a certified public accountant. But his main passion was being with his family, his children and grandchildren, along with being in church praising the Lord. Fact is, we can still hear him saying "Amen Brother! Preach on!"
