David was the first real, return to the earth, eco-friendly, Mr. Natural Hippie that I personnaly knew. I was fortunate to have gone to school with the entire Vara Family. Manuel and I worked at Burger King together. I was in the Hood the other day and passed by the old house. I wondered what had happened to all of you.

My memories of David are all from Reagan because I didn't see him much after we left there. I remember thinking that if I could be as cool as him I would get all of the "chicks". I remember skipping class and riding around in his blue Camero acting cool. We were in metal shop together, with all the other long hairs, and we were put together to make a project. We welded a bunch of scrap iron together and called it art. It was terrible but we passed somehow. I still have the group picture from prom nite that I look at and smile. David was a true Heights Rat and Rats rule. My prayers go out to his family. Peace and Love.
