David “Dave” Irvin Wilhelm, 84, native Houstonian, passed away Wednesday, the 4th of July 2012 at home, peacefully, with family and friends at his side. Dave has left this earth to join his wife, Dee, in heaven. Dave was born on the 2nd of August 1927 to Harold and Alma Wilhelm. He came into this world with his identical twin brother James. Dave grew up in Houston and attended Lamar High School. He attended the University of Texas and graduated with a degree in engineering. Dave met the love of his life, Dorothy “Dee” Wolcott while in college and they were later married and celebrated 56 years of marriage. Dave served his country in the navy during the closing months of World War II and retired from the United States Navy Reserves as Lieutenant Junior Grade. Dave’s engineering educational background enabled him, with two partners’ to establish a very successful engineering company in 1974, which is still in operation, called DWD International. Dave loved the many years he spent coaching at Voss West Little League. Most of the kids he coached are still his friends today. Dave and Dee raised two children, Travis and Ellen. Travis and Ellen went on to have two children each to give Dave four grandchildren and these children went on to make Dave, a great grandfather of three. Dave’s main wish in life was that everyone be happy and love each other.
He is survived by his children, Travis and Ellen; and his grandchildren, Monica; David and his wife Morgan; Stephanie and her husband Randy; and Amanda and her husband Marshall; along with his great-grandchildren, Dylan, Addison, and Madison. Dave is also survived by his identical twin brother, James, who was with him, as in birth, at his death. And the Lord has welcomed Dave into his kingdom and reunited Dave with Dee.
