Today, Tom, Jennifer, relatives, and friends, we celebrate the life of Debra Mae Gasser. It is a time of sadness and loss as we will miss Debra very much; but it is also a time of joy that Debra has ended her physical suffering in this world and has joined our Lord and the Saints in heaven:
John 10:27-29 -- “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.”
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:1-3
Proverbs 12:28 - In the path of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death.
Debra was born on October 9, 1955 in Madison, Wisconsin to now deceased parents Richard John Schroeder of Cashton, Wisconsin and Winifred Adele Morris of Jonesboro, Arkansas. She passed away on May 7, 2021 at Hermann Memorial Hospital in Cypress, Texas. She is survived by her husband Thomas Gasser, her daughter Jennifer Gasser, her sister Mary Baker of San Antonio Texas, and her brother Mark Schroeder of Mosinee Wisconsin. She is also survived by her nieces/nephews Angela, Jessica, Luke, Bethany, Jeff, Chris, James, Leslie. Janel and Danny.
Debra graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business in 1977 and began her career working as an Auditor for the State of Wisconsin, Department of Revenue. She chose a very demanding career auditing large corporations in the Milwaukee/Racine area in an often-contentious business relationship. Her sharp mind and understanding of financial accounting helped her tremendously during this time. Debra married her college sweetheart Tom Gasser during this time and their lovely daughter Jennifer was born in 1983. Debra retired from her career and became a stay home mother and wife, devoting herself to her family and their two chihuahuas Tinkerbell and ‘Princess’ Ariel (who were ‘spoiled’ by her).
She will always be in our hearts and minds as a loving, dedicated, kind, gentle woman with a sense of humor! She cared for others whether she knew them or not and always wished that our world would be more gentle and kind to one another. Debra loved sports, the Wisconsin Badgers and it would not be surprising to stop by her home and see either baseball, hockey, basketball, or football games or Nascar racing on television. Debra had a sweetness and innocence about her that made her unique and always touched those who met her.
While this is goodbye for now Debra, you will always be in our hearts and minds and we look forward to seeing you with our father in heaven. We love you and always will.
