"Sometimes you never know the true value of a moment until it becomes just a memory”

I will always cherish the many special moments that Grami and I had together. Even though my heart hurts that Grami is no long here, I am given some comfort remembering all the good times we had together. Here are just a few of my favorite memories of Grami that I will always hold close to my heart.

Grami was always my shopping buddy… from ankle cut socks to wedding dresses, she was always up for going shopping with me.

Chicken cacciatore, biscotti, Italian cookies… Grami was always making something yummy in the kitchen.

I have fond memories of the places we have been to together: Lake Powell, Maui, and many camping trips in Colorado and Nebraska.

Sien Sien was our favorite Chinese restaurant in Colorado Springs – we would have lunch and dinner dates there with Papa when I was in college.

If it weren’t for Grami teaching me how to wax I'm convinced I would still have a unibrow. And if it weren’t for Grami lending me her Harry Potter book I may have never known about my love for Harry Potter.

I will always love you Grami. Rest in peace.

Dee was married to our dad Sam Gonnella. She is also survived by her grandsons Jake DeNicolo; Vito DeNicolo; granddaughter Nicole Mathena Sanders; great grandson Hayden Sam Sanders; granddaughter Emily Koehler Mathena.
The memories of her home in Van Nuys California. She had a bird of paradise flowers, a beautiful gardenia bush & magnolia trees. Larry would pull up in truck (with a dog in the front seat ) We always stayed in the first bedroom on the left. Lots of good memories at this home. When they retired they moved to Beulah CO. We did so much camping in our little motor homes and their dog Elsa going on every one. These memories I will hold dear to my heart.
Dee & I were there for each other with the passing of our dad. From Texas to their home in Beulah CO we cared for him & I was so thankful for her support. When my dad knew he was ill, he purchased a home for her in Humble to be next to Fran & the grandkids. He had such a special bond with Dee's grandkids. I must say, Dimitri was his bud. He loved watching you grow into a man. He knew you looked up to him for guidance. The love he had for you...

Cathi & Joe DeNicolo; Vicki & Tom Mathena...Your California & Colorado family loved you! I know you felt our love. God bless your soul Grami, we wish you peace.

My mother was not only my mom, she was my mentor and my best friend. Her love for her family was immeasurable. I could always call her or go over to her house, have coffee and a slice of avocado toast, and talk to her about anything. She always gave me the best advice, reminding me that family was most important. I never imagined my life without her. I always teased her that she would outlive me. Mom, you were such a beautiful person. I am so thankful that you picked me to be your daughter. I will love and honor you forever. You will truly be missed❤️.
Love you forever,
Your daughter,
