Delores married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Pavelka, on April 16, 1955 in Violet, TX. They spent the next 15 years moving with Joe’s job with Exxon before settling down in Houston, TX. After raising her children and Joe retiring, they spent the next few years traveling and dancing with the P.O.L.K.A Club where they made many lifelong friends. Delores and Joe made family a priority and rarely missed any of their grandchildren’s activities. These seven grandchildren who all graduated from Texas A&M University were their pride and joy. And these seven have added 14 great grandchildren to the family with 3 more arriving soon!
Delores is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Joe, her parents, her brother George and sisters Edith and Leona.
Survivors include her children, David & Becky Pavelka of Fulshear; Nancy & Doug Turner of Sugar Land; Teresa & Steve Colson of College Station. Grandchildren; Phillip & Megan Pavelka, Ashley & Jeff King, Lauren Pavelka, Julianne & Olle Lorehn, Clayton & Kelly Turner, Craig & Kaitlyn Colson, Kaydee & Ben Schroeder. Great grandchildren; Clara, Paul & Hazel Pavelka; Kacie & Kyle King; Landon, Taylor & Leo Lorehn; Cecilia Turner; Mattilynn, Alan & Joanna Colson; Emma & Hallie Schroeder.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 19th at 3pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home with burial service immediately following. A reception will also be held at the funeral home at the conclusion of these services.
Serving as pallbearers are Phillip Pavelka, Clayton Turner, Craig Colson , Jeff King, Olle Lorehn and Ben Schroeder.
In lieu of flowers, since September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month, contributions in Delores' memory may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma, www.givenow.lls.org.
