Delores Richardson, born April 23, 1934 in Crockett, Texas was the oldest child of Frank Earl and Venola DeBose Green. She was raised by her grandmother, Easter Randolph DeBose and her aunt, Mary DeBose Thompson, with the assistance of her great aunt Julie Peterson. She attended the public schools of Crockett, and was baptized at St. Luke Baptist Church, where her grandparents were founding members. They instilled in her at a very early age, the importance of reading and studying the bible.
Delores married Joseph Richardson in Reno, Nevada in 1949. They live in California for a brief period of time before returning to Crockett where her eight older children were born. She later moved to Houston, Texas, to join her sister Pensacola, here she met her longtime companion Mr. Jimmie Green. They lived in the West End neighborhood, where she joined St. Mary Baptist Church. She also was a longtime attendee of St. Marks Methodist Church and St. Stephens Baptist. She briefly worked in the hotel service industry, but her ultimate career was that of housewife and mother, eventually becoming the mother of twelve children and the matriarch of a family that spans five generations. Always an avid reader, she loved to read anything, from bible to the daily newspaper to the tabloid magazines. Ready to debate anytime to prove her point. In addition, she also loved clothes, shoes, purses and hats. This love for dressing up got her the nickname “Fox” from her West End friends. This passion remained with her throughout life. Even when she became wheel-chair bound and her son Eddie would take her to church, she insisted on having on a hat. As her health began to decline, as with family tradition of taking care for our elderly loved ones, she lived with her daughter Delores for 30 years until the last six months of her life due to her illness. In the early Sunday morning hour at 2:00 am October 24, 2021, God relieved her physical suffering, and called her home.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Earl Green, mother Venola Moten, grandparents Easter and Robert DeBose Sr., aunts Mary DeBose and Carrie Lee Brooks, 5 uncles, Robert Jr. Alton, Booker T, J.D and Jimmie B.
