Dolores C. Galaviz, aged 85, of Spring, Texas, passed away on January 21, 2026. She was born in Houston, Texas, on June 3, 1940, to Matias Cervantes and Luz Perez Cervantes. Dolores graduated from San Jacinto High School. She met Joe Galaviz in the neighborhood they both grew up in, and they were married on May 8, 1960. Dolores worked in a beauty salon at Codes Hendrix for six years.
Dolores devoted her life to her home, her family, and her faith. In her early career, she worked as a beautician for six years and later spent three years at The Houston Post. Soon after, she joyfully embraced her true calling as a wife, mother, and caregiver. She lovingly raised her three children, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends' children. Dolores cherished every child entrusted in her care, loving each one as her own. Dolores was blessed to travel the world with her daughter, Donna, enjoying the opportunities and adventures that came with Continental Airlines. As her family grew, she embraced her role as "Nana," showering her grandchildren with unconditional love, wisdom, humor, and kindness. Family gatherings filled Dolores with joy. She delighted in hosting holidays, wedding and baby showers, and birthday celebrations, creating a warm and welcoming home for all. Above all, Dolores was deeply devoted to her faith in Jesus Christ. A powerful prayer warrior, she shared testimonies of God's miracles with family, friends, and strangers alike.
She lived her life with a humble servant's heart, never seeking recognition or reward. Now, having completed her earthly journey, Dolores has received the greatest honor: "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:21. Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Matias Cervantes and Luz Perez Cervantes, and siblings Kenneth Cervantes, Evangelina Rodriguez, and Mike Cervantes. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 65 years, Joe Galaviz; daughter Donna Galaviz and wife Robin; son Joe Galaviz and wife Kim; daughter Rhonda Holman and husband Shane.
