Dolores “Lola” Guio Perez was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Lola was born to Eugenio Guio (deceased) and Jacinta Vasquez (deceased) in La Playa de Ponce, Puerto Rico on November 6th, 1929. She was a loving and devoted wife to Guadalupe (Papi) Perez-Santana (deceased). Their journey brought them to Houston in 1960 as Guillermo was a Merchant Marine and mainly sailed from the Port of Houston. They had 6 children, Maria Olaya Carrasquillo-Garza (deceased); son-in-law, Johnny Garza (deceased), Angela Perez-Castillo, Ana Maria Perez-Landa; son-in-law, John Landa (deceased), Ramon Guio-Perez; daughter-in-law, Martha Thompson, Eugenio Guio-Perez; daughter-in-law, Debra Perez and Andres Guio-Perez (deceased). She has 11 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Lola or Mami Lola. Everyone knew her for her cooking, especially her Arroz con Maíz or Gandules, Empanadillas, and Papa Rellenos. She loved to feed everyone; family, friends, and all the kids from the neighborhood. She was the life of the party, always ready to dance with Papi, her kids, grandkids, and anyone else willing to dance. If you knew her, you loved her and if she knew you, she loved you. She was truly a blessing to all. She will be missed.
