Dee is a longtime member of South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas. Week after week she would sit in the same spot, toward the back of the church. Dee was never the outspoken Christian but surely showed the love of the Lord by the way she lived her life and treated others. Dee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to so many. Although small in stature, she loved BIG. She had the gentlest and kindest disposition you could imagine. She could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. She had a gift for always thinking of others and showing her care by sending out cards. Her family and friends never had to wonder about her love for them because she told them daily. Every phone conversation or hug was followed by, “I love you”.
Dee spent twenty plus years in the Insurance business (Olson’s Insurance and Farmers). She would go on to acquire her license to sell insurance. She enjoyed her time in the insurance industry and made many long- lasting friends. She has always loved decorating, which she handed down this love to her daughters. In her early years she tried her hand at painting on canvases and creating sand art back in the 80’s. She was spray painting items in her home and painting on clothes way before it was ever a trend. She had many hidden talents. Dee also had a love for the beauty and innocence of birds. She has collected many ceramic birds and anything birds throughout the years. She collected many little cute knick-knacks also. It became a family joke because let’s just say, Dave was not all about the knick-knacks mom would bring home but yet she continued to fill her home with meaningful trinkets.
Everyone knew Dee was a worrier. She worried for her family and friends. We will all miss her bad weather text messages to remind us to get home become rain was coming in. We jokingly referred to her as Ed Brandon. She prayed daily for her loved ones to be safe always. We constantly told her, “we are fine, do not worry”, but that did not seem to work. The apple of her eye would definitely be her grandchildren. The first thing she would tell a stranger about would be her wonderful grandchildren and she would light up while doing so. She was a bit partial to say the least. She adored them and they all adored Mawmaw Dee. Now her biggest concern would be her husband, Dave. They shared such a special love that is rare. Dave was the most amazing care giver. He always considered every little detail that she may need. They were truly best friends and loved each other more than life.
It feels as if the world has lost a big piece of goodness. Because of Jesus, we find comfort that we will be reunited with her again. For now we grieve and our hearts are broken. We will continue to live our lives to honor our beloved mother. We look forward to seeing our precious mother again.
