

He was born July 9,1945 in Itiwamba County, Mississippi to James E Gillentine and Charlie Izola Priddy Gillentine. He grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi and attended Tupelo High School where he played in the marching band. He graduated in 1963 and joined the United States Air Force where he attended Technical School and thus began his interest in Technology – eventually building his own TV set. After 4 years of serving our country, his next career stop was as a DJ, then at a TV station in Jackson, Mississippi. Don, then took to the skies as a corporate pilot and enjoyed seeing the world. He landed in Houston as a home base and met Cindy and they married June 14, 1986. Don then went to work for TexFab as a truck driver from 1992 – 2018 and then Schneider Trucking from 2018-2021. Don was very proud of being an American and a Christian. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and a member of the choir for many years. He loved fishing, camping, millwork, computer technology, his dogs, and he could take apart and fix almost anything.
Don is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cindy; his son, Donald A Gillentine of Currie, N.Carolina; His stepdaughters: Kimberly Quintela, Sherrie Rodriguez and husband Joe; His grandchildren and Honorary Pallbearers : Gavin Argha, Gage Quintela, Randy Vacek Jr, Clayton Vacek, Hunter Vacek, and Hannah Vacek. And great grandson: Cannon Ray Argha. Brother and Sister in law: Ted and Diane Downing; as well as several loved nieces, nephews and friends.
