Donald Gene Holland

Donald Gene “Don” Holland, 83, of Marble Falls, TX, passed away October 17th, 2014 at the Houston Hospice after a long battle with lung cancer. Don was born in Marble Falls, Texas on August 20th, 1931, the 8th child of Bessie Mariah and Marshall N. Holland. He graduated from Marble Falls High School, then earning a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin. His sister, Anna Ruth Holland Wilde, was a significant support and influence in his life, education and career. He spent most of his life in Midland, Texas working in the Oil and Gas industry. He married Carolyn Gray in 1957 and raised two children, Mark and Gaye, and two grandchildren, Crystal and Garrit. Don spent the last years of his life as he loved, in Marble Falls near a brother, Fred Holland, and family, working his land with his grandson, Garrit. Don has been very influential in many people lives, will be terribly missed and fondly remembered forever.

Don is preceded in death by parents (Marshall and Bessie), 3 sisters (Claudia, Anna Ruth and Lois) and 3 brothers (Jay, Malcolm and Dudley). He is survived by his children, Mark Holland of Houston, Gaye Skiles of Midland, his grandchildren, Crystal Chapman of Midland and Garrit Skiles of Stephenville, and his brother, Fred Holland of Marble Falls.Services will be held on October 21st at Fellowship Baptist Church at 2 PM. Condolences may be offered at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home on October 20th at 6 PM.

Special thanks to Houston Hospice for the excellent care and consideration they gave to Don and his family members. They were thoughtful at all times and did their best to make his last days as comfortable for him as possible.
