Donald Gene Landry Sr.

Donald Gene Landry Sr., passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Memorial City Hospital on Sunday from heart and kidney failure. He was born in Port Arthur, TX but spent most of his life in Houston, TX. He was a loving father, doting grandfather and above all, a devoted husband.

Donald recently completed fifty years as a property tax professional. The first twenty-five years at the City of Houston Tax Department where he directed the Appraisal Department. After retirement in 1988 he joined the management team at Harris County Appraisal District as director of the Personal/Industrial Property Division, he later became Director of the Review Appraisal Division. Upon learning of Donald’s passing the Chief Appraiser sent the following message to the district staff: “Don’s dedication, wisdom, encyclopedic knowledge of this county and its property, and his sense of humor will be greatly missed.”

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Leonie and Ina, and his brother Curtis. He is survived by his wife, Nelda; daughter, Terri; son, Gene and his three grandsons; Matthew, William and Travis.

Services will be held at Pat H. Foley funeral home in Houston with the Visitation from 5:00 – 8:00pm on Friday, December 27th and a celebration of life on Saturday at 10:00am. A reception will follow at the American Legion Hall on Alba.
