

Don served in the Navy after high school and then graduated from University of Wyoming in 1952. Don and Mary met at a steak fry in Centennial, Wyoming and were married on February 7, 1954. They moved to Alaska and had fun exploring Alaska while it was still a territory. They then moved to Torrance, California, and began the very busy life of raising their three sons; Scott, Mark, and Greg. The family moved to Littleton, Colorado and enjoyed many summer weekends camping in the Rocky Mountains. They then moved to Palos Verdes, California where the boys were active in sports. This was followed by a short stay in Pittsford, New York where they explored the East Coast. The family then moved back to Palos Verdes before coming to Houston.
After the boys graduated from college, Don accepted a short-term assignment in London, England. Don and Mary connected with part of the Leonard family that lives in England and had fun exploring the British Isles and mainland Europe. Upon Don’s retirement, Don and Mary enjoyed many cruises in a number of international locales. They were active in the Nottingham Forest gourmet cooking club and enjoyed the role of grandparents. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary, and his youngest son Greg. He is survived by Mark and Scott, and grandchildren Kim, Kyle, Travis, Brittany, Sara, and Jared.
A visitation with the family will be on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, from 6:00 PM until 8 PM.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
