On September 17, 1961, our beloved Donita was born to the union of Clarence and Winnie Johnson in Beaumont, Texas. After graduating from Hamshire-Fannett High School in Hamshire, Texas in 1979, she relocated to Houston to begin her professional journey. She soon accepted employment with the FBI Houston Division, marking the start of a dedicated and accomplished career.
Throughout her life, Donita embraced several professional roles and later built a tenure with Gallagher Bassett as a Workers’ Compensation Insurance Adjuster, where she served with diligence and care.
Donita accepted Christ at an early age at House of Prayer Missionary Church, in Beaumont, Texas. In moving to Houston, joined Hopewell Missionary Church and later became a member at Lilly Grove Baptist Church under Pastor Terry K. Anderson, where she served as a faithful member on the Evangelist Team.
In 1986, Donita married Cary H. Beason, Jr. From this union, two sons were born. They shared life together until 1999, when they divorced, but love brought them back together on July 9, 2022. They remained united until she received her heavenly wings on April 17, 2026.
In 1995, she faced her first battle with cancer, and the Lord said, “Yes, you shall be healed.” She overcame that season with faith and strength. Years later, stage IV colorectal cancer raised its head once again, and she courageously fought that battle for the past ten years. Through it all, God’s hand remained upon her. He blessed her with a radiant smile, grace, style and fashion, confidence, humor, and a spirit filled with love. Even in the midst of the storm, God granted her a life that was both blessed and beautifully lived.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Johnson Sr., and her maternal grandparents, Alfred & Lillus Deshotel, Preston Johnson and Brooke Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Cary H. Beason Jr.; her two sons, Quintin Beason (Chantria) and Marquael Beason; her mother, Winnie Thibodaux (Lawrence); her siblings, Clarence Johnson, Jr. (Vickie), Tonnie Matute’ (Brett), Fulton Fredrick Johnson, Vanessa Johnson, and Meatra Johnson; her two granddaughters, Teyonna and Taryn Beason; her uncle, Vincent Deshotel (Margaret); her brother-in-law, Sylvester Beason; her aunts, Clara Hardy, Georgia Watson and Joan Batie; her goddaughters, Marcia Batiste and Alexis Holmes; her godson, Myles; her longtime friends, Velda Nichols and Tracy Robinson; eight nephews, four nieces; and a host of amazing first cousins, extended family members, friends, and associates.
Donita will forever live in our hearts and memories.
