Born October 4, 1951, a gift to her parents, Gaither Jr. and Frankie McNeil (both preceded her in death), Donna Lisa Gilbert was the second child born to this union. She attended the public schools in the Houston Third Ward area. She grew up attending Wesley Chapel AME Church on Dowling; and was involved in the youth activities there. She and her sister, would travel during the summer to Waco, Texas to represent their youth department along with their mother who was one of the adult youth directors. Her accomplishments ranged from top car salesperson at several dealerships in the Houston area, including a tenure at Chuck Davis Chevrolet and Davis Chevrolet for over 20+ years; to Bus Operator for the Houston Independent School District Transportation Division. She also worked in the Medical Center at MD Anderson Hospital Medical Records Department. She sponsored and attended as many art shows as she could to support her talented granddaughter. She was a jovial person and wore a big smile. She enjoyed attending events for family and friends. She really liked Leopard and Cheetah prints. Although she liked Crimson and Gold for her Yates' Lions, pink was her favorite color. She had a collection of sunglasses, elephants and free stuff. On July 13th, God set His final plan in motion - for what she thought would be few days from home, were actually a few days to passing from this life.
