Mrs. Doris Elaine Gooden

Doris was a resident of Houston, Texas.

It is with tearful souls that we acknowledge the passing of Doris Elaine Stell Gooden, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, beautiful human in mind, body, Spirit and dedicated professional in the field of education, teaching with passion and precision English in Houston Independent School District (HISD) for more than 20 years. Doris transitioned into the Ancestral Realm on May 30, 2026, having experienced a remarkable 91 years of living her best life.

Doris Elaine Stell Gooden was born the sixth child of Charlie Stell and Elizabeth Shepherd. A native Houstonian and lifelong resident, she is the last survivor of her seven siblings.

Doris is preceded in death by her loving husband of well over half a century, Billy Gooden. She is survived by her children Columbus, Corlis and Troy, granddaughter Zaire, great granddaughters London, Autumn, Azaria, Layla, great-great grandson Brycen, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, June 12, 10A viewing at Paradise North Funeral home with graveside service immediately following in Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Pearland.
