

Ms. Blanchard was born on December 22, 1922 in Alexandria, Louisiana to her parents, Delphine Young and Louis Davis. She moved to Houston prior to entering high school. She later raised five amazing children whom she had with Paul Blanchard. She retired from Houston Independent School District in 1982. After retirement, the remaining of her free time was devoted to her love of sewing of all sorts, such as quilting. She often gifted many of her children and grandchildren with wonderful quilts she made. Ms. Blanchard was also an avid reader. Dorothy Blanchard is survived by her sister, Dorothea Marsh; her children, Roy Blanchard, Bobby Blanchard and daughter-in-law, Deborah Blanchard, Donald Blanchard and daughter-in-law, CiCi Blanchard, Helen Blanchard, Tracy Freeman and son-in-law Carl Freeman, Jr. Her grandchildren, Dionne Blanchard, Charles Blanchard, Broderick Blanchard and his wife Linda, Byron Blanchard and his wife Crystalline, Dominica Briscoe, Edmond Blanchard II, Donyale West, Christopher Blanchard, Steele West and his wife Britton, Deanna Blanchard, Kimberly Freeman, Carl Freeman III, and nine great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Jessie Armstead and her brother, Herman Davis.
