

Dorothy was born on November 14, 1944, in Chappell Hill, Texas to the late Mr. Booker T. Sr. and Estella Washington. She was the 7th born out of 12 children. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the young age of 10 years old.
She began her education in Chappell Hill, TX at Pickett High School. She later moved to Houston, Texas to continue her education at M.C. Williams High School before starting a family with her late former husband, James Willie Edmond Sr. In the early 1980s, she earned her Cosmetology Degree from Houston Community College and went on to become a beloved hairstylist, serving her community for many years.
She became a faithful member of Greater Star Missionary Baptist Church in the early 1970s under the late Pastor K.C. Jones, preceding with late Pastor Johnny McClain Jr. and current Pastor Reginald McClain. She had many roles held in church such as Choir Member, Usher, Deaconette and Minister ‘s wife. Dorothy and Harry Boone fostered many children for 13+ years. She became a widow to Harry Boone in December of 2012. She announced her love for James Dorsett in 2020. Her departure from earth to heaven was June 2, 2025.
Dorothy will be remembered to some as “Aunt Anna”. She was known for her graceful, diva-like personality. She always took pride in her appearance even in her last days. Dorothy had a huge heart and her faith in God was strong. She was a motherly figure in the Branch Village community and known as the “cool cup lady.”
Dorothy was preceded in death by her cherished parents; daughter, Sharon Edmond; inherited son, Harry Boone Jr.; sisters, Betty Dain, Annie Tucker, and Glady McClain; brothers, Booker T. Washington Jr., Fred Washington, George Washington, A.W. Washington, and Mac Arthur Washington.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories James Dorsett; beloved children, Doris “Ann” Davis (Lee), Janice Witherspoon (Joseph), James Edmond Jr. (Michelle), Tara “Shell” Wooten, Kevin Edmond (Twanna), Costello Edmond; grandchildren, Brandon (Kyerra), Kabria (Sammie), Kiara, Anastasia, Jessica, Najee, Qwanza, Zahi, Nurie, Joseph Jr., Angelika, Anevia, Jelicia, James III, Ashley, Jeremy, Javon, Viaginae, Zachary, Lauryn, Faythe, Trenicia (Julius), Malaysia (Eric), Neforteria, Deveinia (Javaughn), Derrick, Kavina, Keemia (Josh), Keante, Kevin Jr., Kelton and Jeffery Edmond; twenty-five great-grandchildren; siblings, Ollie McDonald, Mattie Houston and Pearl Collins; extended family, Pam Crawford, Monica, Jade, Jasmine; and a host of many children to whom she generously opened her heart and home.
