Dorothy Lee Whitworth Brotherton, 77, joined the Lord on Thursday, May 7, 2015 due to complications of MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndromes). She was born on May 23, 1937 in Houston, Texas to Johnny Benjamin and Ola Mae Mitchell Whitworth, both of whom have preceded her in death. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lionel “Sluggo” L. Brotherton, Jr.; sisters, Juanita Baugh and Lillie Mae Sims; and brother, Kenneth Whitworth.
Dorothy graduated from Jefferson Davis High School. She married Sluggo on April 16, 1966 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Houston, TX. They raised their family in Quail Valley, Missouri City, TX. Dorothy was married for twenty-four years before Sluggo passed away on April 19, 1990. Dorothy is survived by children Leah and husband James, Jason and wife Lydia, Sabrina; grandchildren Joshua and wife Desiree, Ben, Laura, Dakota, Layla, Nolen; great-grandchild Savannah, and extended family. She now continues her journey in Heaven, joyously joining hands with Sluggo once again.
