

Dorothy Booth Myers Harrison, age 85, of Richmond and Houston, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, the 8th of January 2014. She was born on the 15th of December 1928 to August Errol Myers and Mary Dillard Booth Myers.
She grew up in Fort Bend County at the family plantation in Booth, Texas. She attended Elementary School at Booth. She graduated from Richmond High School and the University of Texas with a degree in Mathematics.
Dot was a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston and Calvary Episcopal Church in Richmond. She was active for many years in the Junior League Puppeteers. She also was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital for many years and was a member of the Houston Garden Club.
She and her husband Jim spent their lives with many beloved friends. They traveled and enjoyed many shoots in the Highlands of Scotland. As all know, she was devoted to her dogs, which included Great Danes, Labrador Retrievers, and many fortunate others.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Burr Harrison.
She is survived by her sister Mary Ann Carrico, her nephews and niece, and their children. Her nephew August Edward Shouse and his wife Deborah Lee Symonds Shouse have children Bill Shouse, Ed and his wife Kimberly Shouse, Tucker Shouse, Courtenay Symonds, Samantha Symonds, and Sam Symonds. Her nephew Earl Booth Shouse has children Gregory Stewart and Robert Shouse. Her niece Mary Catherine "Polly" Shouse has children Mathew and Mark White.
The family wishes to thank the loyal caregivers for their devotion to both Dot and Jim for the last years of their lives: Earnestine Reason, Ditra Wells, Stephanie Blevins, Shirley Thomas, and the many others who contributed to her well-being.
A Memorial Service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 14th of January at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, with the Rev. Martin J. Bastian, Senior Associate Rector for Pastoral Care, officiating. Immediately following all are invited to greet the family in a reception to be held in the adjacent Bagby Hall.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the Myers Foundation at Calvary Episcopal School, 806 Thompson Road, Richmond, TX, 77469 or the charity of one’s choice.
