Dorothy Lambert

The angels applauded when this beautiful baby girl Dorothy Mae Shannon was born to buck Shannon and Annie Mae Spears on December 12, 1931 in Lockhart, Texas.

Dorothy came to Houston, Texas in the late nineteen forties. She attended Dunbar primary school, and Phyllis Wheatley High School. She worked as a domestic for 15 years. She also worked at Hugh Tools for ten years as a domestic.

She met and married Bobby Joe Lambert who preceded her in death. To this union were born four children: Edwin Donald Lambert, Joe Arthur Lambert, Sandra Lambert and Victor Lambert. She also had children not of this union: Brenda Hailey, Maureen Curry, and Theira Lee Burkley. Two of her children preceded her in death: Carol Louise Mayo and Rosie Marie Shannon.

Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized. She was a faithful member of the Mount Herman Baptist Church where Minister Ricky Justice is the pastor. She remained faithful until the end of her life.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Joe & Brenda Hailey, Maureen Curry, Theira Lee & Joyce Burkey, Edwin & Tamela Lambert, Joe Arthur I Sharon Lambert, Kevin & Sandra Bolden and Victor Lambert. Twenty four grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and all the young ones she loved as children in the neighborhood. She was a great lady, a wonderful mother, and a very caring person who would give you the clothes off her back. We love you Dorothy. Also, known as Dotty, Lite Bright, and sleeping beauty. Can't wait to see you in the resurrection. We love you!

A visitation for DOROTHY will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. A funeral service will occur Friday, September 17, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. A committal service will occur Friday, September 17, 2021 from 12:20 PM to 12:50 PM at Paradise Cemetery North, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
