Dorothy Louise Lyons

Dorothy Louise Meyer Lyons (Mamaw) of Iola Texas, age 88, passed away and entered the heavenly realms with her Lord and Savior on May 23, 2017. She was born June 30, 1928 in Sandy Hill Texas (near Old Washington) to Ed and Henrietta Meyer – Dorothy was the 4th child of seven, with 4 sisters and 2 brothers. She will be laid to rest at Brookside Funeral Home in Houston, Texas next to her husband. A graveside service will be on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Central Baptist Church in College Station on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.

She was preceded in death by husband Alvin Lloyd Lyons and daughter Frances Lyons Weldon. She is survived by three children: Linda Lyons Waites and husband Morris of Huntsville, TX; Lloyd Lyons and wife Karen of Alvin, TX; Barbara Lyons Henry and husband Brett of Iola, TX. Eleven grandchildren: Melissa Weldon, Darlene Williams Upshaw, Ronny Cooper, Christy Waites Keeling and Seth Waites, Kristy Lyons Rogers, Bobby Lyons, Brian Keen, Greg Keen; Lauren Henry Neutzler, Tanner Henry; eleven great-grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.

Only God knew how much Dorothy so loved her family – all of them. She was a precious lady that was loved by everyone she met. Her heart was so big and she lived a peaceful quiet life. Her life verse was just that, Romans 12:18; If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. There will be a big hole in our hearts and we wait for the day we see her again!

There are no tears in Heaven, nor grief of any kind. I leave this final teardrop to those I’ve left behind. Though absent from the body I’m present with the Lord. The joy of my salvation is now my full reward.
