

Born on July 17, 1934, in McGregor, Texas, Dorothy was a sixth generation Texan and moved to Houston as a young girl. After high school she worked as a Certified Professional Secretary for Humble Oil & Refining Company, later known as Exxon, where she met her future husband Carlos Maggio. Together they shared over 50 years of happiness . When Carlos was transferred to Midland, Texas, Dorothy attended and graduated from Midland College and became a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Sorority.
Dorothy was a member of the Daughters’ of the American Revolution, the Daughters’ of the Republic of Texas and a member Colonial Dames, 17th century. When they moved back to Kingwood, she became involved in the community and served as a Senior Volunteer at Kingwood Medical Center. She was a member of St. Martha’s Catholic Church where she held a prominent leadership position in sharing her faith with the ladies of the Corner Stone Scripture Study.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carlos Maggio, her father Frank Evetts, her mother and stepfather Anice and Virgin Blancet, and her son Randy Chisum. She is survived by her son Edward Chisum and his wife Debbie, grandchildren Lance Chisum and his wife Nicole, and Randy Chisum Jr., great grandchildren Kaylee and Joshua and nieces Kathy and Phyllis. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Joye Evetts of Fort Worth, Pearl Maggio of the Woodlands and Marie Maggio of Beaumont.
Services for Dorothy will be Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Frwy, Houston, TX 77039, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. and services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery.
