Dorothy (Russell) Magill

Beautiful to the end Dorothy Russell Magill lived life with joy, grace and grit. A native Houstonian, youngest of four born on the 3rd of July 1932. Dorothy enchanted all who knew her. A Reagan High School graduate of 1950, she remained a proud Reagan Redcoat all her life.

She met and fell for Donald A. Magill while working at Tenneco in the early 1950s. In 1952 they married and moved to Colorado Springs to build a life and start a family. Dorothy and Don raised five children in a loving home and Dorothy managed a busy household with her signature style and humor. In the mid-70s, Don and Dorothy returned to their beloved Houston and continued their legacy of putting family and faith first, but friends were always a big part of Dorothy’s life. All who met Dorothy adored her and she had countless friends and admirers. After Don’s death in 1997 Dorothy continued to enjoy a full life of nurturing loved ones and traveling and celebrating milestones with family. She was especially proud of her 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Dorothy peacefully passed away on the 5th of October 2026 surrounded by loved ones. “Because of you” mom we remain a strong family. Rest in peace with Dad.

A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 9th of October, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road in Houston, where Father Bart Reynolds, is to officiate.

Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at The Briar Club.

The family will join the reception following a private burial at Glenwood Cemetery.
