Dorothy J. Massey

While living in Kentucky with her family, she met a young neighbor boy, Allen Massey, and a love that endured for fifty-four years began.

Allen enlisted in the military and went to serve his country in 1950. He and Dot continued their courtship through letters that spanned the time that he served in the military. After he was discharged from the military, Allen came back to Kentucky and married the love of his life in Lookout, Kentucky on July 19, 1952.

Allen and Dot remained in Kentucky for a short time after they married. Allen left for Houston, Texas in February of 1954 to start a new life for his wife and growing family. They were reunited in Houston by April of 1954. Their first child, Randy was born in June of that same year. Carolyn, their daughter and second child, was born in July of 1956. The final addition to the family was Nickelos (Nick), born in February of 1960.

Allen worked for Houston Shell and Concrete for many years. Dot worked at Lack’s for a substantial number of years, as well as devoting her time to home and family. Dot and Allen spent fifty-four years together and enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and bowling.

Dot continued to be a strong support for her family after she lost Allen in March of 2007. She continued her activities. Dot was active in her pokeno club, she enjoyed lunching with the girls and bowling in her league.

Dot adored her three children and their spouses, her seven grandchildren and her fourteen great grandchildren. She enjoyed gathering them together for birthdays, holidays and special occasions. She loved to spend time with her family and kept in touch either in person or through the computer when they were not with her.

Dot is survived by her son and his wife, Randy and Kathy Massey of Deer Park, Texas. Daughter, Carolyn and her husband, Ozell Covington Jr. of Bedias, Texas, and son, Nickelos (Nick) Massey of Houston, Texas. Her children blessed her with seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Dot will be profoundly missed by her entire family and a host of friends.
