Dorothy Alberta Mendoza, of Houston, entered eternal rest on Friday, January 12, 2024. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; whose greatest accomplishment is the strong, caring family she leaves behind. They all felt her unconditional love and she will be missed tremendously.
Dorothy enjoyed starting her day by sipping a cup of instant coffee while she read her Bible. She loved to listen to the sixties and Tejano music while she cooked & cleaned. She spent her free time taking her great-grandbabies on walks, feeding birds outside her patio, and working on her crossword puzzles. Her family finds peace and comfort with the memories they have of her beautiful life.
Dorothy is survived by:
Sons: Robert Ruiz, Fernando Mendoza, Joe Mendoza Jr. and his wife Michelle
Granddaughters: Monica & her husband John Cantu, Leslie & her husband Anthony Rojas & Amanda.
Grandsons: Andrew, Aaron & girlfriend Kathy, Justin & girlfriend Kayla
Great grandchildren: Adrian, Jaylen, Roselyn, Junior, Fabian, Little John, Joseph, Antoine, King, Catalina, Abraham, Cassidy & 1 more on the way
Sisters: Alice Rivera & Esther Martini as well as multiple nieces & nephews, cousins & lifelong friends
In Heaven, Dorothy will reunite with her husband of 41 years, Joe Mendoza Sr., who passed away in 2001; her parents, Guadalupe & Antonio Ruiz; Son in Law Rene Martinez, Brother-in-Law; Robert “Bobby” Rivera; Daughter in law; Lisa Ruiz and her brothers Paul, Acension & George Ruiz.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, Texas 77022. A rosary will occur Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 6:00 PM, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, Texas 77022. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, Texas 77022. A committal service will occur Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77305.
