She was a student of Phillis Wheatley High School and graduated in the Class of 1948. She was named Ms. Y Teen in 1947 and showed great school spirit and pride in her Alma Mater.
On September 23, 1958, she united in holy matrimony with Hubert Randle. And with this union they raised 5 children, Dwight, Hubert Lynn, Christy, Lillie, and Derick.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Greater True Vine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Hugh Pope, where she served as a Choir member, Youth Choir matron, Deaconess, President of Mission I, and Member of the Christmas Fund Committee. She joined the Fifth Ward Ladies Outreach and served as a proud member until her passing.
Dorothy was also able to express her creativity and impeccable taste by planning and decorating for church events. She made lovely floral arrangements and was also a great cook. She was named “Woman of the Year” as an honor for her commitment to ministry and her servitude to the church. To so many of her loved ones, she was known as Sis. Dorothy Randle but at True Vine she will forever be known as “Aunt Dot”.
After retirement, Dorothy and Hubert moved to Beasley where she united with Prairie Grove Missionary Baptist Church, “theGrove”. Where she served in a multitude of ministries using her God given and divinely ordered gifts to serve the Lord as well as others. Her service to the Lord was shown as the Pastoral Care Ministry Vice President, Fellowship In Love and Sincerity (F.I.L.A.S.) Women’s Ministry member, Justified Ordained Youth (J.O.Y.) Ministry Matron, active in Church restoration and cleanup projects, Hands of Healing Ministry – Food Pantry, Organizer of the Monthly Birthdays and Anniversaries, Active participant and donator in theGrove’s Annual Back to School Supply Drive, Monsters in Ministry participant, Annual Easter Egg Hunt donor, excited participant in the Annual Christmas Celebration Program through acting in the play, helping with decorations, youth costumes, and participating in all of the fun activities. She also loved working behind the scenes all the time. She never had to be asked– she was a willing worker in the Lord. Sis. Dorothy Randle was an active member until the day of her passing and will be truly missed by theGrove family!
She expressed her gift of speaking and writing through the expression of poetry, creative writing, resolutions, and unique presentations. She has served as a speaker, presenter, and mistress of ceremony of a number of women’s events and church programs. She was committed to serving with confidence and pride.
Dorothy was the embodiment of true ministry in action with her dedication and love for God. She walked proudly in the love of Christ. She was accepting to so many and gave advice and encouragement on so many of occasions but the impact that she leaves on each of our hearts will forever leave an undeniable imprint.
