

DOROTHY ANN BLOME THOMPSON passed away peacefully on September 2, 2022, surrounded by her daughters, ending her battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). She was born on December 30,1938 to Edwin and Lydia (Loesch) Blome in the Sandy Hill community of Washington County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill. After graduating from Brenham High School in 1957, Dorothy moved to Houston and began working at First City National Bank. It was there she met Ronald Witt and they married and had two daughters, Cheryl and Cindy. After staying home for a while to care for her children, she began working at Gulf Oil in the accounting department in the late 1960’s. She was at Gulf Oil until they closed the doors in 1984. She worked for a time at Chevron, Kerr-McGee and Valero Oil. In 1981, she married Richard (Dick) Thompson and added her bonus children to her family. Dorothy and Dick enjoyed traveling, bowling and family get togethers. She participated in many bowling tournaments and was an award-winning chili cooker. Dorothy enjoyed having a good time and loved throwing parties for her friends and family. She was considered a second mother to many. She was a strong, independent woman who told it like she saw it and was never afraid to speak her mind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, Ronald Witt and Richard Thompson, sister Evelyn Faye Blome, sister Ruth Carol Fritz, brother-in-law Eugene Fritz, grandsons Eric and Zachary Fenno and bonus son, Richard Thompson, Jr.
She is survived by her children Cheryl Hampton and husband John, Cindy Fenno and fiancé Ronnie Willis, Lisa Fugate and husband Guinn, Ray Self and wife Dessa, and Stephen Fenno. Grandchildren Lacey Galindo and husband Rustin, Lindsey Griffith and husband Brandon, Matthew Hampton and wife Shelby, Sean Fenno, Cody Gray, Kara Gray and fiancé Paul Arculeo, and Kelsey Self. Also, her great grandchildren Brody Galindo, Jase Griffith, Briley and Hallie Hampton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff of Tranquility Assisted Living for the wonderful, loving care they gave to Dorothy during the past four months.
