My dearest Edith was part of my life from as far back as I can remember, and Jonathan, too. I wish you farewell with laughter and tears, because I know you’ll be missed but I know those who have gone ahead are waiting for you with open arms.

I remember sitting with her and my mother and grandmother, listening to the most tragic stories shared with the sharpest wit and humor and wisdom. A remarkable life. Such strength and so much laughter and sarcasm all delivered in that delightful southern drawl.

Edith was a beautiful woman, inside and out. Devoted to her family and I for one will miss knowing that we won’t be seeing her pop up at our table with new stories, but I will be looking forward to the day we meet again and she catches me up on all of it.

Jonathan, Debbie, Charlotte, Scott please know we love you and that the best part of Edith isn’t gone; her strength, resilience, love, laughter and kindness lives in you all.

Edith was a long time friend of the family. She was a fun person to be around. She laughed and everyone laughed with her. I loved hearing she and Dee tell stories on each other growing up. Years ago Edith started planning out her funeral with me. She didn’t want a funeral procession , she wanted a parade and it was to start on the north side of Houston in the Lindale area. She would say “are you writing this down so you will remember”. Of course we were laughing and cutting up, but that was Edith, everything was a joke with her. I will miss her, but happy that she is now at peace and free from pain.
Love You Edith💞

Well my friend many roads we traveled through the years starting from the Houston Northside - Lindale Edition, Bennington/Dorchester. We were just kids. We had many good times and sometimes bad times which we always got through. You spent a lot of time at my house and I remember one time you insisted on helping to prepare a meal when my mom was at church and you burnt daddy’s okra. We had many a good laughs, even daddy, over that. I enjoyed your parents, siblings and all of your children and many loves. I know you have already embraced all of your loved ones that went before you and started your wonderful new life. Thank you for your friendship while you were here.

Nanny,
I love you and will miss you beyond words. I am one lucky girl to have had a grandmother like you and feel so blessed to have been your First grand daughter and even more blessed to share a birthday with you. I have a life time of memories with you that I will hold close to my heart always. You will be forever in my thoughts, my heart and memories. I know the Boys and I have the most amazing Guardian angel watching over us in heaven because here on Earth she was the best grandmother and great grandmother we could have ever ask for. Thank you for loving, teaching and always standing by us. I love you always Nanny
today, tomorrow and all of eternity.
Your work on Earth is done

I’m thankful for Aunt Edith. She wrote me a handwritten letter many years back telling me she was proud to see me as a good mother to Jennifer & Justin. She loved my mother & helped me when my mom went to meet the Lord. I’m sure there are reunions in Heaven.

Mom,
I love you so much! I am not sure would go gambling with me like you did. We would go and go. Of all the mother's in the world, you were the best for me. Teaching me to be strong when I did not know how to be. I love you to the moon and back a bushel and a peck.!
I enjoyed every moment with you. We had our times good and bad yet we hung in there.
You will be missed dearly .
I love you
Debby

Just a short note to say thank you for being a wonderful mother. Teaching me so much. Loving me. I am so glad I knew you. You taught me how to live and how to die. You were the strongest woman I ever knew and I will forever try to be the person you made me.
