

DOUGLAS EDWARD STOCKTON, III (nicknamed Trey) died on Monday, December 27, 2010 at his home in Katy, Texas. He was 28 years old. Trey was born on October 11, 1982 in Houston, Texas and immediately brought great joy and happiness to his parents. He was loved and cherished by his family and will be greatly missed. His untimely death leaves a great void in his family, but we will never forget the twinkle in his eye and the smile that filled up his face. He will always be remembered with love and affection by all who knew him.
Trey grew up in Katy, Texas and graduated from Taylor High School in 2001. He also attended St. Peter’s United Methodist Church. Trey was the oldest of four children and loved sports. He participated in any sport that involved a ball and was very competitive. Trey was particularly talented in baseball and excelled as a left- handed pitcher in Little League, Pony League and high school. He was also very skillful at cards and board games which was sometimes a source of great frustration to his family members.
Trey was very creative, inquisitive, and intelligent as evidenced by his skillful and imaginative writing and storytelling abilities. He kept a journal of his thoughts and ideas and created numerous stories involving characters in a small town that lived in his fertile imagination. Trey was an avid reader of a variety of books and texts and was always surprising people with the depth of his knowledge on a wealth of unrelated topics.
Trey is survived by his parents Merrilynn M. Stockton and Douglas E. Stockton, Jr. of Katy, Texas. He is also survived by his brother Zachary T. Stockton, his sisters Katherine E. Stockton and Jennifer L. Stockton, his paternal grandfather Douglas E. Stockton, his maternal grandmother Glenna Lea Miller and several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, December 30th at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Trey Stockton to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. (www.nami.org)
