Dreis Reynard Ford was born on July 17, 1974 to the parents of Arleta Ford Murphy and Charles James in Acres Homes, Houston, Texas. A loving person with a charismatic smile and heavenly heart that will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Dreis departed this earthly life at Willowbrook Methodist Hospital at the young age of 50, surrounded by his family and friends that he touched in some short way throughout his life. Our family is saddened by the loss of Dreis.
Dreis, affectionately known by most as simply “Ford”, accepted Christ at an early age. He attended several churches but found his church home as a member of True Praise Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ernest Helaire. Dreis loved his church, his congregation, his Pastor Ernest Helaire and First Lady. But most of all, Dreis loved the Lord his God, with ALL of his heart, his soul, and his mind.
Dreis attended AISD and later HISD schools where he achieved his GED. He went on to attend Lone Star College. Dreis worked as a bus driver for various companies including HISD, Coach USA and Metro.
He always took an opportunity to help anyone when they were in need. He never complained or asked for anything in return.
Dreis was an only child and the life of every party. Although he had no children, he was a “Godfather” to many. Dreis was faithful and loyal to his mother until his life’s journey ended on this earth. But, this is not the end of his journey, it’s only the beginning. On May 24, 2025, the Angels took his hand and guided him home to be with his heavenly father.
Dreis was preceded in death by his father, Charles James and Billy Stewart (stepfather).
He is survived by his mother, Arleta Murphy, and a host of family members and friends.
Isaiah 25:8 “He will swallow up death forever, And the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces.”
A visitation for Dreis will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at True Praise MBC located at 1044 Granville St. Houston, Texas 77091. The funeral service will immediately follow from 11am to 12:30 pm at 1044 Granville St. Houston, Texas 77091.
