

E. Roy Hunt, born June 16, 1941, in Mumbles, Swansea, Wales, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, determination, and love. Growing up in London as the eldest of five, he developed a strong sense of responsibility and leadership. From an early age, Roy proved he could achieve anything he set his mind to. His ambition led to a successful career as an international banker, allowing him to travel the world and experience life in ways many only dream of. On July 27, 1968, Roy married the love of his life, Mary. Their 56-year marriage was built on deep devotion, unwavering support, and shared laughter. Together, they raised three wonderful children—Claire, Dayne, and Sarah. As a father, Roy was loving and encouraging, always pushing his children to pursue their dreams. His love extended to his seven grandchildren, whom he adored and took immense pride in.
Roy was known for his quick wit, wisdom, and generosity. He had a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life, making lifelong friendships wherever he went. His career took him across the globe, living in England, France, Greece, Singapore and the great state of Texas. He embraced each new experience with curiosity and enthusiasm. A self-made man, Roy thrived on perseverance and determination, earning the admiration of colleagues who respected his sharp mind and integrity.
In 2020, Roy endured one of his greatest hardships—the loss of his beloved son, Dayne. Though deeply affected, he remained strong for his family, offering love and support despite his grief. His resilience in the face of adversity was a testament to his unwavering strength and devotion to those he loved.
Beyond his professional success, Roy was a man of many talents. Whether fixing things around the house, offering sage advice, or simply making someone smile, he had an innate ability to improve the lives of those around him.
Roy’s kindness, humor, and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friends he inspired, and the countless lives he touched. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit remains in the hearts of those who loved him.
Roy is preceded in death by: Son Dayne. Grandson Damon. Sister Marian and brother Gary.
Roy is survived by: Wife Mary. Brother David. Daughter Claire & partner Odhrán. Daughter Sarah & husband Brian. Grandchildren Aaron, Saoirse, Lauren, Benjamin, Cerys & Miles. Dayne’s children’s mothers Nancy & Amelia.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77024, with a reception to follow funeral service at the funeral home.
