

Earl Edward Marchand, 86, of Houston, passed away peacefully August 27, 2011. He was the son of the late William Alfred Marchand and Ester Willhouse. He graduated from Rice University in 1945 and served in the United States Navy during World War II, stationed in Newport, Rhode Island. He met the love of his life, Edith Essie Lipscomb, in his senior year at Milby High School. They dated through their years at Rice and were married in June, 1945.
Earl worked for Gerald D. Hines Interest investment builders for over 20 years. He was involved in all facets of construction including design, engineering, development and finance. The Galleria and Post Oak Tower were two of his major projects while at Hines. Letter in his career with Hines he was involved in their development of projects in Canada and other parts of the United States.
He is survived by his wife Edith, brother Charles Marchand, children and their spouses: David and Joan Marchand, James Marchand and Melinda Saffer, Steve Marchand, Sherry Marchand Hess and Mark and John and Reanie Marchand; grandchildren and their spouses: Michelle Marchand Bricker and Andy, Mark and Jane Marchand, Katie Marchand Walker and David, Kyle Marchand, Elaine Hess, Lauren Hess and Alexandria Marchand; and great-grandchildren: Grace, David, Austin, Brady and Kate Marchand.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 1st at 5:00 PM at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, in the Friendship Court. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Houston SPCA 900 Portway Dr. Houston, Tx 77024, www.houstonspca.org or another charity of your choice.
