Earnest was born on February 12, 1937 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Earnest Lee Scott and Hazel Vernon Scott. Earnest came to Houston around the age of nine and graduated from Aldine High School. He met and married the love of his life, Mary Katherine Ebarb, (Lilly), and they had 6 children: Brenda, Terry, Karen, Sherry, Cara and Barbie.
He worked in the Agriculture Industry as a Grain Inspector; later he started his own welding business and even dabbled in leather craft. Earnest loved horses owning quite a few in his day, trail riding and rodeos; in his spare time, he ran a Horse Stable business where he developed many friendships and built Cannon’s Rebels Trail Riding Club where he served as the Trail Boss and made many trail rides. He loved to talk about his adventures, cooking by an open fire and being out on the trail. Earnest loved the Old West and western movies. He made numerous trips to Tombstone, Arizona and loved to tell the story of what happened on that notorious day at the OK Corral. His girls laugh that they could tell the story before even seeing the movie. Earnest answered to many names: Earnest, Allen, and Scottie but the one most fitting was “Cowboy Pawpaw”, by the grandkids. He truly embodied the true Western Cowboy. Before retiring to the recliner, Earnest worked a few years for Aldine School District, doing some security work and driving a school bus.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life Lilly, his second wife, Claudia and 2 children, Karen, Cara.
He is survived by his 4 daughters: Brenda Bierd and husband Mike, Terry Scott, Sherry Parks and husband Phillip and Barbie Walters and husband Eugene; 3 sisters: Georgia, Ann and Mary; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.brooksidefuneralhomelauder.com for the Scott family.
