He was married to his wife, Marie, for 44 years, until her passing in December 2000. He was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Eddie worked for the City of Houston Fire Department for 50 years until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged prior to joining the Fire Department.
Eddie was a wonderful man, always providing for his family, no matter the cost or sacrifice to himself. He is deeply loved by all his family and will be greatly missed.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Mary Meschwitz, wife, Marie Bench Meschwitz, daughter-in-law, Meredith Meschwitz, brother, Albin Meschwitz, and numerous sisters and brothers in law.
Surviving are his children, son Gerard Meschwitz, daughter Anne Meschwitz and John Salinas, and daughter Denise Thiele and husband Dennis; grandchildren, Andrew Meschwitz and wife Dana, Caryn Meschwitz Lestage and husband Brandon, and Robyn Meschwitz; great-grandchildren, Avery Meschwitz and Henry Lestage; brother, Charles Meschwitz and wife Judy; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Meschwitz.
Eddie’s services will all take place on Monday, December 19, 2022 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman St Houston, Texas 77018. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, Recitation of the Rosary at 10:15 am, Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. His interment will be at 2:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer, 12800 Westheimer Rd. Houston, TX 77077. Funeral services are being handled by Pat H. Foley Funeral Home.
