

Eddie Nash Pollard, 100 years young, went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 16, 2024. Eddie was born to Exa and Edward Pollard on March 7, 1924, in Galveston, Texas. He retired from FMC Corporation after 43 years of service as a machinist and inspector of oilfield valves. He was a 50-year veteran of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Allyne, his wife of 65 years, predeceased Eddie.
He is survived by his two sons, Kerry (Diane) Pollard of Austin and Park City, Utah, and Byron (Kimberly) Pollard of Houston. He is survived as well by seven grandchildren, Lauren (Erik) Garcia of Buda, Scott Pollard of Austin, Mitchell Pollard of Houston, Bryce (Lisa) Waller of Austin, Blair (Meghan) Waller of Austin, Evan (Kelsey) Waller of New York City and Eden (Orcun) Canlilar of Murphy, Texas. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren. Eddie had two sisters, Mary Jane (Stan deceased) Pyndus of The Woodlands and Polly (Bob, both deceased) Cross.
Eddie and Allyne were faithful members of St. Stephens United Methodist Church since 1961. Until he was no longer able, Eddie attended the Adult Bible Class and Men’s Prayer Breakfast weekly.
He enjoyed the art of woodworking, carpentry and numerous crafts and hobbies. He was an avid “42” player and willing to play dominoes with anyone who would play. He had calendars where he kept the scores of every Astros game. Eddie Nash Pollard never met a stranger and was always willing to say an encouraging word to anyone he met.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Evelyn for her special care and for being his friend in his later years as well as Charles who visited every Thursday. We would also like to thank the staff at the Village of the Heights Assisted Living who brought joy and friendship to Eddie for the past five years.
A visitation for Eddie will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, 2003 W 43rd St, Houston, TX 77018. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 2003 W 43rd St, Houston, TX 77018. A committal service will occur Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
