Edith Mabel Barillas, 84, of Houston, passed away peacefully in her Sugar Land apartment on Thursday, June 6, 2013. Born September 23, 1928 in Cuba, she is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Carlos Barillas.
Mabel was a loving wife and mother who devoted her life to her three children, five grandchildren, and great granddaughter. She never met a stranger, and no visitor, be they family, friend, or acquaintance, ever left her home hungry. Mabel's greatest joys in life were caring for her family and playing cards and dominoes with her closest friends.
Mabel is survived by her sons, Carlos Barillas, and wife, Neyda; Luis Barillas and wife Ana Maria; and daughter, Jackie Barillas. She also leaves behind grandchildren: Cristine, Luis, Emily, Katie, and Cristopher, and a beloved great-granddaughter, Brianna.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services.
