

She was born to Alfred and Margaret Bonnell on January 20, 1921 in Jersey City, N.J. She spent her childhood in Roselle, N.J., where she loved going to church youth group and singing in the choir. She and John were married, and soon thereafter John was transferred by Prudential to Houston, Texas in 1952. Edith enjoyed spending time with friends and family, working at the First State Bank of Bellaire, and playing bridge and canasta. Known to many as "YiaYia," she could light up a room with her cheerful spirit and hospitality.
She was predeceased by her parents, loving husband John, and her precious daughter Patti Hallas Stone.
She is survived by her daughter Judy Hallas; granddaughter, Rev. Christina Stone Chambers and her husband Steve and sons, Jonathan and Luke; and her grandson, Jon Stone and his wife, Dr. Carley Faughn Stone. Edith is also survived by nephew Steven Poulakos, wife Maria and their three boys; nephew Richard Hoff and wife JoAnn; and niecesPamela Poulakos and Mary D'Andrea and husband Joe.
