Edna R. Cantrell

Edna Ruth (Tyler) Cantrell, 80 passed away Tuesday September 21, 2010 in Houston, Texas. She was born February 3, 1930 in Iberia, Missouri to Walter Tyler & Hazel Cook Tyler. Edna graduated from Waynesville High School in 1948 and then attended Central Missouri State College. She was a former Civil service employee at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Edna married Hubert Cantrell, Jr. on May 22, 1953. They moved to Houston in 1963 from Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was employed by HISD from 1970 to 1990. She was a member of the Gethsemone United Methodist Church, the Texas Retired Teachers Association, the Hanson Chapter of the Eastern Star, and the AARP Chapter 4418. Edna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Hubert on March 15, 2008. She is survived by her son, Kent C. Cantrell and his wife Sharon; daughter, Karen Cantrell; brother, Wayne (Bud) Tyler and his wife Bonnie; grandchildren, Luke, Julianna, Peyton, Stephanie, and Carly; nieces and nephews, Ginger, Mark, and Wendy as well as many other nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday September 24, 2010, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service in the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, Texas 77079. Interment will follow in the Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
