Edward Ray De La Fuente, age 85, was called to our Heavenly Father on Monday January 30, 2023. Born on October 14th, 1937, to Carlos De La Fuente and Guadalupe Morales De La Fuente in Rosenberg, Texas.
At age 17, while attending church, Edward met a cute 14 year old girl named Neddie Cruz, soon after, they married and then proceeded to have three children, one right after the other! Edward and Neddie, while not quite finished growing up themselves, attempted their hands at rearing their three children. But by the Grace of Our Dear Lord and a smidgen of dumb luck, they managed to raise three wonderful humans.
He was a proud member of The United States Marine Corp for 12 years and he taught his children The Marines' Hymn and reminded them often that "There are no Ex-Marines. Once a Marine, always a Marine."
He studied at the University of Houston and attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas, completing his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. In 1961, he began a career in Information Technology with the City of Houston's Management Information Systems department. He retired from the City of Houston after 31 years of service.
He was a long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts, a Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Priesthood. He loved his Church.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents, his infant brother, and a host of other relatives he loved so dearly. He is survived by his wife Neddie, his son, Charles "Rusty" De La Fuente and wife Tracy, his daughter, Liza "Rene'e" Gonzales and husband Carlos, his daughter, Ana De La Fuente-Herrera and husband Noah, his grandchildren, Travis, Tessa and Jennifer, his brother, Leonard De La Fuente and many nephews and nieces and other beloved relatives.
The family would like to thank their awesome extended family and their close friends Kathy and Wayne Spraggins, Emily Moore and all their friends from the L.D.S. Church. Everyone is so supportive and willing to help in every way they can and you all mean so much to this family and they want you all to know they appreciate it very much.
