Edward Elton Smith

Edward Elton Smith was born to Edward Bruce Smith and Cecelia McPherson Smith on October 5, 1938, at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, TX. He went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2025, at Willowbrook Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Edward grew up in Houston, attending and graduating from Sam Houston High School, where he lettered on the varsity basketball team. He also took some business courses at the University of Houston. He began his career as a salesman first with Chief Realty, then with several other businesses, where he became a Sales Manager located in Dallas, TX and later in Atlanta, GA. In later life, he was employed by RCR Realty Inc. in Houston.

Edward was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Houston for many years where he served as a Deacon and a Greeter. He had a great appreciation for all types of music. When he knew someone liked a particular type of music or artist, he was quick to provide that person with several CDs. Many friendships were forged because of his great love of music and his willingness to share it.

He is survived by his brother, Gary L. Smith and wife Carol; nephews, Clint Smith, Sean Smith and wife Kendra; and one niece, Dawn Askew. He is also survived by great-nieces, Brooke Smith, Faith Askew and Kenley Smith; great-nephews, Foster Askew, Sterling Askew, Reagan Bohac, Jadd Smith and Jace Smith; great-great niece, Mackenzie Hendricks and great-great nephew Canyon Kinsey as well as a host of other cherished family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are, Foster Askew, Sterling Askew, Jace Smith, Jimmy Galloway, Ronnie Little and Ignacio Galicia.

A visitation for Edward will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Parkwood Baptist Church, 1842 Northpark Dr, Texas, Texas 77339. A funeral service will occur Friday, January 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM, 1842 Northpark Dr, Texas, Texas 77339. A graveside service will occur Friday, January 10, 2025 at 3:30 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
