

Edwin Francis Marut made the journey to be with Jesus on December 26, 2012. He was a loving Husband and dedicated Father. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 16th, 1947 to World War II Veteran, Michael Marut and Mother, Leola Maxine Gross. He is survived by his wife, Alcira. They married on March 20th, 1976 and spent 36 wonderful years together. He is also survived by his daughter, Lisa and her husband, David, his grandog, Daisy and puppy, Tanner; his Sister, Barbara, and husband Phil, and their two sons, James and Marcus; his Sister, Shirley, and husband Bill, and their children, Matthew, Holly, Paul, and James; his brother, Michael, and his wife Liz, and their children, Erin, Michael, and Daniel; his Sister-in-law, Beatrice and her husband Rolf; his brother-in-law Oscar and his wife, Elsa, and their children, Sebastian, Diego, Lina, and Sergio; his Sister-in-law, Pilar; his Sister-in-law Liliana and her husband, Patrick; his Sister-in-law Maria Mercedes and her husband, Steve; and his Father-in-law, Rodolfo and his wife, Alejandra; his Mother-in-law, Betty; and many friends.
Ed graduated from Robichaud High School in Inkster, Michigan in 1965, received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Lawrence Institute of Technology in 1973 followed by a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Michigan, which led to a rich and prosperous professional life in Pipe Stress Engineering within the Oil & Gas Industry.
Ed enjoyed reading and maintained a large library shelved on a wooden bookshelf he handcrafted himself- his favorite books among JRR Tolkien’s “The Hobbit”, and “The Lord of the Rings Trilogy”. He also enjoyed gardening and planned and executed a beautiful garden for Alcira, complete with sun-dial, birdbath, and the Virgin Mary. He loved the outdoors, and was especially fond of hiking and will always be proud of climbing Mount Rainer. His favorite weather was the cold, fresh, air and he loved the Michigan winters and snow. Ed loved to travel and he traveled to many exotic places such as Alaska, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Italy (he was excited to see the Vatican and “meet” the Pope), Colombia, Switzerland, Germany, and more. He prided himself in visiting almost all of the 50 states of North America. Ed loved to fly and enjoyed being a pilot. He received his pilot’s license from Parks College of Aviation, Engineering, & Technology in St. Louis, Missouri. He also loved computers and learning about different software. He was an animal lover as well and is preceded in death by his beloved Chihuahua, Honey.
He also was a very strong believer and follower of the Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. His interests in the Catholic Church led him to write a book. He believed God will call us home to live in eternal happiness.
A Rosary service/viewing will be held on Friday, December 28th, 2012 from 7pm - 9pm at the Brookside Funeral Home Cypress Creek, 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77095. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 29th, 2012 at 10:00am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, Texas, 77079, officiated by Father Troy Gately.
Ed will be laid to eternal rest at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston Texas on December 29,2012.
Ed will be forever loved and missed. Life will never be the same without him!
