Eileen Marie Shelander

Eileen Skyvara Shelander, 85, went to be at home with the Lord Jesus on Friday, July 17, 2020. Eileen was born to Annie and Frank Skyvara on August 26, 1934, in Halletsville, TX and became the eldest of three sisters. Eileen was a lifelong resident of Houston, TX and graduated in 1952 from John Reagan High School in the Heights. After graduation she married her sweetheart John, moving with him to the Sharpstown area, where they in turn raised their three children and were members of the St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church. Eileen was a very active and involved 'Mimi' in her later years, supporting and loving all her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 55 years, John Shelander, infant daughter Lisa Shelander and sister Mildred Dunlap. She is survived by her children, Robin Wetmore (Tim), Kathleen Shelander and John Shelander (Robin). Grandchildren Kara (Rob) French, JD (Cristina) Shelander, Ryan Shelander and Lezli Shelander and Great- Grandchildren Robert Austin French and Sam French. She is also survived by her Sister Ida Nelson, Sister-in-Law Susan Shelander and numerous neices and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetary on Saturday, July 25th at 11:00 with a viewing from 10:00-10:45. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be streamed live on Facebook. A celebration of Eileen's life will also be held at at a later time. Pallbearers for Eileen will be Rob French, JD Shelander, Ryan Shelander, Melvin Clayton, Stephen Shelander and Neil Sullivan. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Austin French and Sam French. The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Willowbrook Skilled Nursing for their care. May the Lord grant her eternal rest and may perpetual light shine upon her.
