

THE SUN DID NOT SET ON THE LIFE OF ELDER LAVERNE WILLIAMS on January 21, 2020, butrather it shined and danced across the blue sky. The chapter of her earthly life came toa close and her heavenly life began. From the day of her birth on May 15, 1952, inHermann Hospital, to Mr. Leon Evans & Willie Mae Burks in Houston, Texas, Lavernewas destined to touch and forever alter the lives of everyone she came in contact with.She was the youngest of four children.
Laverne accepted Christ at an early age, and accepted her calling into the ministry in1982 at Miles Chapel CME Church in Paducah, Kentucky, under the spiritual leadershipof the late Rev. Rod Thompson of the Second Episcopal District of the CME Church.She was ordained as an Elder in 1983, full connection of the Second Episcopal District,under the leadership of Bishop Ohal Lakey. Due to her health issues, she retired fromthe Ministry.
She pastored a church in Kentucky. Laverne joined St. Mark United InternationalChurch, Inc., under the spiritual leadership of Bishop Henry Parker, Jr. She met andmarried the love of her life, Airman First Class Thomas Williams, Jr., on September 17,1974 (45 years total).
Laverne was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Rev. L. C. Burks; one half-sister, Delores. She transitioned from this earthly life to her heavenly home onJanuary 21, 2020, at her home in Humble, Texas with her husband, Rev. ThomasWilliams, Jr., and son, Thomas Williams III.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Rev. Thomas Williams, Jr.; son,Thomas Williams, III; daughter, Sadé Spears of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, and ahost of nieces, nephews other family and friends.
