Eleanor Ann Mechell, lovingly known as “Ann” and “Mema,” entered into eternal peace on May 30, 2026, at the age of 79. She passed away peacefully in the early morning hours, surrounded by the love of her children, grandchildren, brother, family, and dear friends, as she was welcomed into her heavenly home.
Ann was born on November 18, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Roland Bowman Teale and Eleanor Marie Teale.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Ann’s greatest joy was spending time with those she loved. She treasured family gatherings, laughter, sharing good food, and the simple pleasure of chocolate cake. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and cake decorating, but more than anything, she found fulfillment in caring for others. Her selfless heart, gentle spirit and unwavering faith touched countless lives.
Throughout her life, Ann’s deep devotion to God guided her every step. Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life and a daily testament to her love for Jesus Christ. On September 20, 1997, she made her final promise as a Secular Discalced Carmelite and became a member of the San Juan de La Cruz Community in Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Eleanor Teale; her beloved husband, Bucky W. Mechell; her brother, Roland David Teale; and her daughters, Verna Michelle Merten and Tracie Johanna Merten.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly Morrow and husband, Rick, Lori Stallones and husband, Clayton; and Matthew Mechell and his wife, Marcella. She is also survived by her brothers, Thomas “Butch” Teale and his wife, Linda, and James Teale; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Teale; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. In addition, she is survived by her cherished godchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other beloved family members and dear friends who were blessed to know and love her.
Ann will be remembered for her warm smile, kind heart, steadfast faith, and wonderful sense of humor. Her love, wisdom, and prayers were gifts she shared freely, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the many acts of kindness, prayers, support, comforting words, and meals shared during this difficult time. A special thank you is extended to Heart-to-Heart Hospice for the compassionate care and support provided to Ann and her family.
